HanWool Materials Science Subsidiary Passes TCL CSOT's Two-Year Validation; China Production Also Under Review

[Financial News]  JK Materials, a subsidiary of HanWool Materials Science, has entered the supply chain of Chinese display manufacturer TCL CSOT after two years of validation. Having passed reliability assessments for standard optically clear adhesive (OCA) and high-performance OCA (FOCA), the company is accelerating its push into China's premium display materials market.
According to HanWool Materials Science on the 30th, JK Materials was registered as a TCL CSOT supplier after undergoing technical consultations, product testing, and quality and reliability verification. TCL CSOT's projected demand for standard OCA for China in the second half of this year is 450,000 sq. m.
OCA is a transparent material used to bond display panels, optical films, and cover glass. The company has presented a sales price of approximately 100 million won per 10,000 sq. m., although the actual price varies depending on the supply volume and contract terms.
The range of products to be supplied is also expanding into high-value-added products. JK Materials passed TCL CSOT's high-temperature and high-humidity reliability assessment. FOCA is used in flexible and foldable displays and has greater technical complexity and higher added value than standard OCA.
Medium- to long-term supply volumes are also expected to increase. According to the company, TCL CSOT requested an annual volume of 18 million sq. m. of standard OCA for 2027. However, this is a requested volume from the customer, not a confirmed order; the actual supply volume will be determined during mass production and contract negotiations.
An industry official noted, "For display materials, the process of being registered as a vendor after passing a customer's long-term quality and reliability verification is itself a barrier to entry," adding, "The key to expanding revenue will be how much actual mass-production volume can be secured going forward."
Meanwhile, the company is discussing local production in China in preparation for increased volumes. TCL CSOT proposed production options to JK Materials, including the establishment of a local joint venture. The company is also considering a collaborative structure in which JK Materials develops and produces resin, a key raw material, while domestic film manufacturer A handles film production.
A company official emphasized, "We have completed registration as a TCL CSOT supplier and the FOCA reliability assessment," adding, "We will flesh out a local production plan and establish a long-term supply relationship."
