[Financial News] DB Group is accelerating its group-wide artificial intelligence transformation (AX), with AI data centers, AI agents and AI solutions serving as its three pillars.
The group plans to leverage its business portfolio, which spans system semiconductors, information technology (IT), insurance and finance, manufacturing, and services, together with its data to identify new AI businesses while improving productivity and competitiveness in its existing operations.
DB Group said on the 29th that it held the "DB Group AI Strategy Briefing" at the DB Finance Building in Daechi-dong, Seoul, with founding chairman Kim Jun-ki, group chairman Soo-kwang Lee and other key executives in attendance.
DB has spent the past several years preparing for the AI era by establishing AI-related organizations and advisory panels and operating various working-level task forces (TFs).
The briefing was held to further accelerate the AX innovation initiatives being pursued by each company by sharing the AI strategies developed so far and introducing outstanding ongoing projects.
The event began with reports on the review and progress of the AI data center, AI agent and AI solutions businesses, which three TFs, including the Group AI Advisory Panel, selected as priority new businesses. It was followed by presentations on AI best practices being pursued by each company.
For data centers, an AI infrastructure business, the group presented proposals under review for various ways to build and operate training data centers and inference edge data centers by utilizing group-affiliate sites and downtown buildings with excellent locations.
For the AI agent business, which is closely linked to existing operations and highly scalable, the AX Promotion Office of DB's IT division introduced various business models and applications designed to improve work productivity and efficiency.
In the hardware (HW) sector of the AI solutions business, presentations covered advanced semiconductor design and process technology projects being pursued with the On-Device Research Center at Sungkyunkwan University, which has been designated a national research university. In the software (SW) sector, presenters highlighted DB Insurance's AI optical character recognition (OCR) project and Vecta, an AI platform that DB's IT division took the lead in developing and applied to the insurance business.
DB has previously invested in six venture companies with leading technologies through the Investment Business Department of its Trading Division to secure core solutions at an early stage.
