Man in His 40s Arrested Over 'Knife Incident at Hangang Park'; Court Cites "Risk of Flight"

[Financial News]  A man in his 40s was arrested after causing a knife-related disturbance near Hangang Park on the last day of the Chuseok holiday.
Seoul Southern District Court Judge Kim Ji-hyun, who handles arrest warrants, held a pre-arrest suspect questioning, or warrant hearing, at around 10:30 a.m. on the 29th for Cheon, a man in his 40s accused of possessing a weapon in a public place. The judge issued an arrest warrant, saying, "There is a risk of flight."
Cheon is accused of threatening passersby with a weapon near Yanghwa Hangang Park in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 27th.
It was reported that passersby took refuge in a nearby cafe after Cheon shouted on the street while holding the weapon.
Cheon tried to enter the cafe but was unable to do so after the owner locked the door. No one was injured.

At around 9:53 a.m. that day, Cheon appeared at the court. In response to reporters' questions, including 'Why did you try to enter the cafe?', he said, "I did nothing wrong."
After completing the warrant hearing, which lasted about 25 minutes, Cheon again responded to reporters' questions as he left the court. When asked, 'Do you maintain that threatening people with a weapon was not wrong?', he said, "I did something wrong, but I feel wronged" and "I'm not a bad person."
Earlier, Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station requested an arrest warrant for Cheon on the 28th. Police plan to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged offense.
