KORAIL Railroad Museum to Hold Fall Festival Throughout October, Offering Train Driver Experiences and Special Access to Display Vehicles

[Financial News] Korea Railroad (KORAIL) will hold a fall festival at the Uiwang Railroad Museum, where visitors can enjoy activities ranging from making train models to experiencing the work of a train driver.
KORAIL announced on Sept. 29 that it will host the 2026 Railroad Museum Fall Festival throughout October, beginning Oct. 3. Held on weekends and public holidays at the Uiwang Railroad Museum in Gyeonggi Province, the festival is themed "Railroads to See, Make, Experience and Meet."
The program includes "Making a Train with My Own Hands," railroad safety experiences and education, special access to display vehicles, and meetings with current railroad professionals.
The "Making a Train with My Own Hands" activity will take place on Oct. 3-4 and on the final day, Oct. 31. Families can make rail-shaped keychains, model trains using special plastic (shrink plastic), and paper models of old-fashioned train carts together. Railroad safety and science experience programs for children will also be offered every weekend. On Oct. 9-10, visitors can indirectly experience train-driving duties using diesel locomotive and electric train driving simulators.
In particular, display vehicles that are normally difficult to enter will be opened to the public on Oct. 17-18. Visitors can board the diesel-electric railcar once used exclusively by the president, the narrow-gauge passenger car No. 18011, and the diesel heating car No. 905, and learn about the history of each vehicle with a guide. On Oct. 24-25, the final weekend of October, the museum will host "Meeting Railroad Professionals: Stories of Railroad Careers," featuring current railroad workers, including rolling-stock maintenance technicians and railway traffic controllers.
All programs require on-site registration, and visiting hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Detailed information is available on the Railroad Museum website.
Bae Eun-seon, director of the Railroad Museum, said, "I hope this will be a special fall in which visitors make and drive trains, step inside display vehicles that are usually closed, and discover the many sides of railroads."
