[Financial News] Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. announced on the 29th that it discussed group-level cooperation plans regarding tokenized finance and digital asset infrastructure with key executives of Digital Asset, a U.S. company, at Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd.'s headquarters in Jung District, Seoul.
Digital Asset is the developer of the institutional blockchain Canton Network, and the Canton Foundation supports the management and operation of the network.
On this day, Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. Chairman Jin Ok-dong, U.S. Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz, and Canton Foundation representative Viv Diwakar met.
Following the signing of a business agreement with the Canton Foundation last June to participate in network governance, Shinhan Investment & Securities and Shinhan Venture Investment, affiliates of Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd., made a strategic equity investment in Digital Asset in July. This month, Shinhan Asset Management received final approval as a Super Validator, a core operating body that supports the stable operation of the Canton Network and participates in key governance decision-making, becoming the first domestic financial institution to do so.
During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation plans that leverage the group's capabilities, including the bank's payment and settlement infrastructure, the distribution of tokenized securities, and the tokenization of real assets in asset management. They also reviewed measures to enhance global investors' access to Korean financial products.
Moving forward, Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. plans to strengthen digital asset infrastructure cooperation by pursuing technology verification in line with the domestic institutionalization of tokenized securities and expanding connections with overseas tokenized assets and financial institutions by utilizing the Canton Network.
Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. Chairman Jin Ok-dong said, "In line with regulatory reforms, we will responsibly prepare to expand linkages with global digital asset infrastructure and build a service foundation that customers can use safely and conveniently."
