KB Kookmin Card Verifies the Safety of AI Agent Payments

[Financial News] KB Kookmin Card will begin validating related technologies in preparation for an agentic payment environment in which artificial intelligence (AI) agents handle everything from product searches to payments.
KB Kookmin Card announced on the 29th that it had signed an MOU with SY Polaris for a joint demonstration and validation of AI-agent-based payments.
The agreement is intended to address a new payment environment in which AI agents participate in shopping and payment processes on behalf of customers. The two companies will examine the technical requirements and security and authentication systems needed for application in real-world card payment environments.
The joint demonstration will use K-AP, an AI-agent-based payment integration specification proposed by SY Polaris. In a test environment, the companies will connect an AI agent with a shopping mall, payment module, and card issuer's system to recreate the transaction process and identify the requirements for authentication, transaction verification, and system integration.
Based on the demonstration results, the companies will review the technical and operational requirements and further define the scope of their future cooperation.
In South Korea, KB Kookmin Card will pursue the joint demonstration with SY Polaris. Overseas, it will participate in Visa's Agentic Commerce Ready Program to conduct global technology validation related to agent-led payments.
