Ulsan City's Overdue Water Bills Soar to 1.255 Billion Won in Two Months

[Financial News Ulsan—Choi Su-sang, Reporter] Ulsan Metropolitan City's overdue water bills have reached 1.255 billion won.
Ulsan Metropolitan City's Waterworks Business Office announced on the 29th that it will designate October as the 'Special Delinquent-Bill Collection Period for the Second Half of the Year' to encourage prompt payment and secure a stable financial foundation for the special account for waterworks operations.
Of the total 1.255 billion won in overdue bills as of the end of August, the Waterworks Business Office set a collection target of 846 million won, or 67.4% of the total.
The office plans to focus its administrative efforts on collecting the overdue bills by imposing strong measures, including suspension of water supply and seizure of property, against high-value and habitual delinquents.
During the special collection period in the first half of the year, the Waterworks Business Office actively pursued the collection of overdue bills and recovered 844 million won out of 1.252 billion won. However, after adding the remaining 408 million won and the bills that became overdue in July and August, the total amount of overdue bills once again reached 1.255 billion won.
An official from the Waterworks Business Office said, "We ask residents to pay their water bills diligently, as the charges are used for key waterworks projects—including the replacement of aging pipes, the installation of new water supply lines, and the expansion of reservoirs—to ensure a stable supply of clean tap water."
