Kwangwoon University (KWU) Offers AI Media Master's Program in the KRW 500,000 Range per Semester

[Financial News] KWU announced on the 29th that it will begin accepting applications on Oct. 6 for students entering the Department of AI Media Solutions, a media-focused master's program operated with support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, for the first semester of the 2027 academic year. Thanks to government and corporate support, working professionals pay only in the KRW 500,000 range in tuition per semester, drawing interest from employees of small and medium-sized enterprises who seek to further develop their skills.
This master's program is designed to integrate rapidly evolving generative artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics technologies into media, journalism, advertising, public relations and content production. It combines online lectures on weekdays with in-person practical classes on Saturdays, allowing working professionals to pursue their studies while maintaining their jobs.
The tuition benefits are particularly generous. Of the standard tuition of KRW 3.02 million per semester, the government subsidizes 65%, or KRW 1.963 million. After contributions from participating companies are added, students pay no more than KRW 528,500 per semester, equivalent to 17.5% of the tuition. Under the retraining-linked simultaneous hiring track, which connects admission with employment, the government covers the full cost of tuition, or 100%.
The curriculum is divided into six areas: journalism, entertainment, public relations and marketing, data analytics, media management and practical training. Instead of a conventional theory-based thesis, students complete a real-world problem-solving project, or capstone project, that uses AI technology to directly address issues faced by their affiliated companies, enhancing the program's practical applicability.
Anyone with a bachelor's degree who has worked for at least six months at a small or mid-sized company and is enrolled in the four major social insurance programs may apply. Those planning to sign an employment contract before admission are also eligible, regardless of their previous department or major. Applications will be accepted online through the KWU Graduate School website from Oct. 6 through 16.
Professor Sangyeon Kim, the department's overall director, and dedicated professor Heedae Lee said, "The ability to use generative AI has become an essential competency in media content production and organizational management." They added, "We will provide our full support so that students can grow into leaders who create AI solutions that work in the field as soon as they graduate."
