Seong Mun-gi Named President of Korea Cartoon Association; Exploring Creative Methods in the AI Era

According to the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency on the 29th, Seong's term began on the 12th and will run through September 30, 2029.
The newly elected president studied fine arts at Sungshin Women's University and earned a master's degree in Comics and Visual Media from the Graduate School of Design and Visual Media at Sangmyung University. He has served as a professor in the Department of Comics and Animation at Cheongju University and as president of The Comics & Webtoon Society of Korea.
He currently serves as a board member of the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, participating in the formulation of major projects and operational directions while discussing ways to support creators and promote comics culture.
The association plans to focus on broadening the foundation for cartoon creation in Korea and finding new creative methods. It will help creators respond to technological changes and expand their connections with the international scene.
The task for his new term appears to be turning the goals of responding to technological change and strengthening international competitiveness into creative support that artists can experience firsthand.
Seong, the newly elected president, said, "I will open up new possibilities for Korean cartoons through fresh perspectives and challenges, without remaining stuck in familiar frameworks and past experience."
The Korea Cartoon Association is an artist-centered arts organization that was launched in December 2005. It marked its 20th anniversary last year and supports the promotion of cartoon creation and exchanges among artists.
