ANCHOR NODE Hires Former Kakao Senior Executive Vice President Shin Min-kyun as Strategic Adviser

[Financial News] ANCHOR NODE, an artificial intelligence (AI) company specializing in the gaming vertical, has hired Shin Min-kyun, former senior executive vice president of Kakao, as a strategic adviser. The company plans to accelerate the development of a new growth strategy with Shin, who has expertise in gaming businesses and future business strategies, joining the company.
According to industry sources on the 29th, Adviser Shin led the gaming business as an executive director in charge of company-wide strategy and business operations within an organization reporting directly to NCSoft CEO Kim Taek-jin. At Kakao, he oversaw future businesses, including AI and blockchain, as deputy head of the Future Initiative Center. After serving as head of the Strategic Planning Group and overseeing company-wide strategy, he became CEO of Kakao Ventures.
ANCHOR NODE is developing proprietary AI technology specialized in game production and applying it in actual game-making environments. It operates game asset production and game development businesses, including Game AI Phi, a solution for game art creation. Following Shin's appointment, ANCHOR NODE plans to expand its AI solutions business based on capabilities accumulated through in-house game development and external production projects. It also plans to move forward in earnest with efforts to integrate AI production technology into existing games.
Shin said, "A strength unique to ANCHOR NODE is that a team that understands game production sites directly develops AI technology and then uses that technology to make games again." He added, "I will help turn the technology's potential into tangible business results and help the company grow into an AI company that is consistently used in the gaming industry."
Meanwhile, ANCHOR NODE secured seed investment from FuturePlay in 2024 and follow-on investment from FuturePlay and NAVER D2 Startup Factory (D2SF) in February 2025. In the same year, it was successively selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Tech Incubator Program for Startup Korea (TIPS) and Deep Tech Specialization Startup Package. In March this year, it was also selected for the Deep Tech Startup Project (DIPS).
