Samsung Displays Video Congratulating Jensen Huang in Times Square, Highlighting AI-Semiconductor Alliance

[Financial News] Samsung Electronics displayed a video on a billboard in New York's Times Square congratulating Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, on receiving the 2026 James A. Van Fleet Award. The award was established by The Korea Society, a nonprofit organization, in honor of General James Van Fleet, who served as commander of the U.S. Eighth Army during the Korean War. It is presented each year to an individual or organization that has contributed to strengthening friendship and cooperation between South Korea and the United States.
Samsung Electronics said on the 29th that it had showcased a video on billboards in New York's Times Square from 6 p.m. on the 27th (local time) through the 28th. The video highlighted Huang's innovative leadership, major achievements in advancing the AI industry, and his receipt of the award.
Huang was selected as this year's recipient of the James A. Van Fleet Award in recognition of his contributions to advancing innovation in AI and accelerated computing, as well as expanding cooperation between South Korea and the United States in the AI and semiconductor industries.
The congratulatory video shown on the Times Square billboards dynamically introduced Huang's key activities and achievements through four words representing him: "Pioneer," "Architect," "Builder," and "Friend." Another video used a virtual exhibition space to sequentially present Jensen Huang's major activities and vision, conveying the significance of the award.
Samsung Electronics and NVIDIA have maintained a cooperative relationship for many years across various fields, including memory and system semiconductors. In particular, Samsung Electronics expanded the scope of its partnership in February by becoming the first company in the world to mass-produce and ship HBM4 for NVIDIA's next-generation AI accelerator, Vera Rubin.
Samsung Electronics is pursuing the establishment of an "AI Factory" by combining NVIDIA's accelerated computing and digital twin technologies with its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The initiative aims to apply AI throughout the entire process, from research and development to design and manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics also has a long-standing connection to the James A. Van Fleet Award. The late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee received the award in 2006, 20 years ago, in recognition of his contributions to economic cooperation between South Korea and the United States and to the development of relations between the two countries.
