IT Talent Trained in Korea Joins Overseas Affiliate... Woongjin Group Secures Talent in Malaysia

Woongjin Group is strengthening its overseas business competitiveness by hiring Malaysian IT talent who studied at Korean universities for its Malaysia-based affiliate. The strategy is to proactively secure talent with both an understanding of the local market and IT expertise and leverage them to expand its Malaysia business.
 According to industry sources on the 29th, Woongjin Group recently hosted the Malaysia International Student Exchange Forum for Malaysian students enrolled at Korean universities. Woongjin Group has held the forum for the third consecutive year since 2024.
 This year's event was attended by 21 Malaysian students majoring in information systems, data, computer science and software at four universities: Korea University (KU), Sungkyunkwan University, Yonsei University and Hanyang University. The participants learned about Woongjin Group's major IT businesses and the current operations of its Malaysia affiliate, and exchanged views on local operations and recruitment.
 Notably, the forum has evolved beyond simply building a network of international students into an actual channel for securing local talent. Of the 60 students who participated in the forums over the past three years, 15 were hired by Woongjin Asia. That is roughly one in four participants.
 Woongjin Group is focused on the fact that securing Malaysian talent with specialized IT and software training in Korea allows it to hire people who understand both the local market and the work environment at Korean companies. Amid intensifying competition in IT technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), the move is aimed at securing local specialists needed to stably expand its overseas business.
 Kim Sang-woong, head of Woongjin Asia, said, "Expanding our overseas IT business is important for advancing new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, securing key talent and expanding the market. We will continue to expand exchange opportunities so that we can identify talent needed for our global operations."
