[New York Stocks] Fall amid Treasury Sell-Off; NVIDIA Rises 1.7%

Amid rising international oil prices, all three major New York stock market indexes fell on the 28th (local time) as Treasury yields rose again. UPI-Yonhap

All three major New York stock market indexes fell on the 28th (local time).
The market was hit as a sell-off in U.S. Treasuries continued amid tensions between the United States and Iran.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA rose 1.7% after announcing a $15 billion share buyback plan.
Across-the-Board Decline

The three major indexes fell in the wake of rising Treasury yields.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell 346.99 points, or 0.67%, from the previous session to close at 51,481.51. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500 Index) dropped 59.72 points, or 0.77%, to 7,683.69. The Nasdaq Composite also slipped 248.34 points, or 0.92%, to 26,820.38.
The Nasdaq-100, which comprises 100 large technology stocks, retreated 331.32 points, or 1.08%, to 30,276.81. ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ), a leveraged exchange-traded fund that tracks three times the Nasdaq-100's daily movement, fell $2.56, or 3.22%, to close at $77.04.
NVIDIA Only Semiconductor Stock to Gain

Semiconductor stocks weakened under pressure from rising Treasury yields.
Micron fell $28.30, or 2.61%, to $1,053.98, while AMD retreated $22.76, or 3.61%, to $607.87.
SanDisk dropped $64.91, or 3.65%, to $1,712.89, while SK hynix American depositary receipts (ADRs) plunged $9.64, or 5.03%, to $181.92.
NVIDIA, the leading stock in the sector, managed to save face by rising $3.79, or 1.68%, to $228.86 on news of its large-scale share buyback.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) fell 203.69 points, or 1.61%, to 12,465.24. SOXL, a leveraged ETF that tracks three times the index's daily movement, plunged $9.13, or 6.03%, to $142.32.
Big Tech Weakens

Big Tech stocks also performed poorly.
Alphabet fell $1.17, or 0.34%, to $342.75, while Apple closed down $2.67, or 0.78%, at $338.40.
Palantir Technologies fell $2.19, or 1.15%, to $187.48, while Tesla slid $14.66, or 3.94%, to $357.45.
Microsoft (MS) fell $6.95, or 1.35%, to $509.22. SpaceX, which successfully sent its Starship rocket into Earth orbit, closed down $3.21, or 2.16%, at $145.47.
