Second Vice Minister Kim Dae-hyun to Cheer on Korean Team, Inspect Athletes' Village Support [Nagoya Asian Games]

[Financial News] The government will cheer on the Korean delegation competing at the Nagoya Asian Games and inspect on-site support operations. It will also visit athletes' villages set up in containers and cruise ships to encourage the athletes and support staff.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) on the 29th, Second Vice Minister Kim Dae-hyun will visit the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Summer Asian Games, held across Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from today through Oct. 1.
On the first day, he plans to watch badminton matches. On the morning of the 30th, he will visit the compound archery venue, followed by the judo venue in the afternoon, to cheer on the Korean athletes.
For this event, no new athletes' village was built. Instead, containers, cruise ships and existing accommodations are being used. As the accommodations are spread out, support operations headquarters for the Korean delegation are also being run at five separate locations in the area.
When accommodations are dispersed, the support needed may vary depending on living conditions. That is why it is important to monitor the athletes' lives outside the competition venues at each base.
Kim plans to meet with officials from the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) at the Garden Pier container athletes' village, the main athletes' village for the event, and the nearby Kinjo Pier cruise-ship athletes' village. He will hear about difficulties in the support process.
He will also visit Korea House, a hub for supporting the Korean delegation, sports diplomacy, and promoting Korean culture and tourism. He will hear about the on-site response from the KSOC and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), while reviewing its operations.
Kim said, "I hope the athletes' efforts and sweat will bear fruit in a way that leaves them with no regrets," adding, "The MCST will do its utmost to support our athletes to the very end, above all to ensure their safety and health, which are our top priorities."
