[Financial News] Park Jeong-yun, a member of South Korea's national women's compound archery team at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya, has drawn attention online for her looks as well as her performance. As photos and videos of her matches spread, reactions to Park have continued, but she also made her mark athletically by setting a world record at the Games.
Park Jeong-yun scored 702 points to rank third overall in the women's compound ranking round held on the 26th at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. With the highest score among the Korean athletes, she teamed up with Choi Yong-hee in the mixed team event.
The pair produced a "perfect game" in the mixed team event. In their round-of-16 match against Japan on the 27th, Park Jeong-yun and Choi Yong-hee hit all 16 shots in the 10-point ring to score a perfect 160. South Korea defeated Japan 160-150, and the 160 points recorded by the two athletes were recognized as a world record.
In the quarterfinals against Iran, they were tied 158-158 before winning the shoot-off 20-19 to advance to the semifinals.
Park also continued her winning run in the individual event. In the women's compound individual round of 32 on the 28th, she defeated the United Arab Emirates' Joumana Ali Ahmad Alnajjar 148-140. In the round of 16, she beat Taiwan's Chen Fangyi 148-147 to reach the quarterfinals.
Park's accuracy has also been demonstrated at international competitions. In the women's compound individual round of 48 at the fourth leg of the 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Madrid, Spain, in July, she hit all 15 shots in the 10-point ring to score a perfect 150.
As footage of Park competing at the Asian Games became more widely known, online reactions to her looks also emerged. Her competitiveness, however, has been demonstrated first through her results: 702 points in the ranking round, a world-record 160 in the mixed event, and a place in the individual quarterfinals.
