Despite Military Acknowledgment of North Korean Landmines, Blue House Remains Muted; People Power Party Takes Aim at President Lee

[Financial News] The ROK JCS said on the 28th that an explosion in the DMZ along the Western Front was highly likely to have been caused by a North Korean landmine. However, the Blue House did not immediately issue a position. The People Power Party swiftly attacked the Blue House over its silence.
People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk said, "Although belatedly, the military has effectively acknowledged that it was a North Korean landmine." He added, "The final conclusion on whether it was planted or lost has been withheld, but regardless of whether it was planted or lost, North Korea's responsibility is clear."
Jang Dong-hyuk continued, "Yet while the military was announcing this important matter, President Lee Jae Myung was leisurely posting a message rebutting Kim Ou-joon's claims." He criticized the Blue House, saying it remained "muted" over the grave national security crisis. "Although it clearly must have received a briefing, the Blue House has not even issued a position."
Jang Dong-hyuk claimed, "The president, who should be fighting Kim Jong Un, is too busy fighting 'Munjo Teol-lae-yu,'" adding, "The president, who should be protecting the people, is preoccupied solely with protecting Kim Jong Un."
The Democratic Party of Korea issued a statement immediately after the ROK JCS announcement, saying it would respond decisively to any act that threatens the security of the Republic of Korea.
The Democratic Party of Korea said, "If, as indicated by the ROK JCS's field investigation, it is true that North Korea planted landmines near the Military Demarcation Line and threatened the lives of our service members, this can never be tolerated." It added, "This is a direct violation of the Korean Armistice Agreement and agreements between North and South Korea." The Democratic Party also said it would work with the Lee Jae Myung administration to respond decisively to acts that threaten the security of the Republic of Korea.
