Oh Jiyoon, Invited to the Venice Biennale for Two Consecutive Editions, to Present Around 50 New Works in Seoul

[Financial News] Artist Oh Jiyoon, who was officially invited to the Venice Biennale for two consecutive editions, will present around 50 new works in Seoul.
Hana Bank announced on the 28th that it will hold the special exhibition "The OH JI YOON: Dignity—The Essence of Breath" from the 2nd through the 30th of next month at the Hana Art Bank Gallery on the basement level of Club1 PB Center in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Oh Jiyoon was officially invited to this year's 61st Venice Biennale after participating in the 60th edition in 2024. The exhibition offers visitors in Korea an opportunity to view, in one place, the artist's recent works created through her international activities.
Around 50 of Oh's recent works will be displayed. The exhibition includes pieces that create her signature textures through tens of thousands of layered brushstrokes, as well as relief paintings made with a variety of materials, including pure gold, diamonds, and pearl powder.
Oh has explored human dignity, the essence of the inner self, and the relationship between darkness and light as central themes throughout her career. In her new works, she visualizes the light and vitality emerging from darkness, along with human emotions, through repetitive brushstrokes and the physical properties of various materials.
Programs accompanying the exhibition will also be offered, providing an opportunity to explore the artist's body of work and the development of Korean art.
On the 7th of next month, the "Demian Project Art Talk" will be held with writer Jeong Yeoul. On the 20th, art historian Professor Lee Tae-ho will lead a "Korean Abstract Art Seminar." The programs are designed to help visitors gain a more comprehensive understanding of the works' backgrounds and the visual language Oh has developed, going beyond simply viewing the artwork.
