"Bodycams Recorded DMZ Explosions"... Military Confirms Everyone Was Wearing 'Spider Boots'

[Financial News] It has been confirmed that all three officers injured in the landmine explosion that occurred on the 21st in the western section of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) were wearing the protective equipment known as 'Spider boots.' The military also disclosed that the soldiers were wearing bodycams that recorded the explosion.
The military explained this to lawmakers belonging to the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly, who visited the 25th Infantry Division in the DMZ on the 28th.
Amid suspicions that the injured military officers had not been wearing Spider boots in the accident that resulted in an ankle amputation, the Ministry of National Defense announced that morning that it would conduct an additional investigation into the allegations. However, it was reported that the detection personnel were wearing separate additional equipment, such as protective vests.
It was also confirmed that the soldiers had equipment capable of detecting even plastic landmines with them at the time of the accident. The soldiers testified that they saw an object made of plastic resembling a wooden box landmine.
It was also found that footage of the accident scene had been captured by bodycams attached to the soldiers.
A military investigator said, "I understand that that part, the bodycam footage, is received through the video evidence collection process," adding, "The bodycams do not transmit video; they only record it."
Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited the site of the accident at a Guard Post (GOP) unit under the jurisdiction of the 25th Infantry Division together with lawmakers from the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly. Chun Ha-ram, floor leader of the Reform Party and a member of the Defense Committee, also inspected the unit site along with lawmakers from the ruling party.
The People Power Party, meanwhile, boycotted the Democratic Party-led visit to the DMZ by the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly, calling it nothing more than a show. Approval from the United Nations Command (UNC) is required to enter the DMZ, so even lawmakers cannot enter easily. They were only to receive a briefing at the 25th Infantry Division command post.
