Worker in His 40s Dies After Being Crushed at Ottogi Subsidiary Plant: "Measures to Prevent Recurrence to Be Established"

[Financial News] A man in his 40s employed by a contractor was crushed by robotizer (robot) equipment at Ottogi SF's Gyeongnam Goseong plant and died four days after being hospitalized for treatment.
According to Ottogi's disclosures and other sources on the 28th, a male contractor's employee in his 40s, identified as A, was crushed by robotizer equipment at Ottogi SF in Goseong-eup, Goseong County, at around 11:59 a.m. on the 21st.
Immediately before the accident, A entered the work area with another worker to inspect a malfunction in the robot palletizer at the loading area. After completing the task, the worker who left the area assumed that A had also exited and restarted the equipment. When the robot restarted, A, who was still inside the work area, became trapped between the robot arm and a pallet.
A was taken to a hospital immediately after the accident and underwent surgery for a burst fracture of the lumbar spine. He was then treated in the trauma intensive care unit but died at around 10:30 p.m. on the 25th.
Ottogi said, "We reported the details of the accident to the police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, among other authorities, and will suspend use of the equipment until investigations by the relevant agencies and safety checks are complete." It added, "We are in the process of establishing special safety training for all sites and measures to prevent recurrence."
