[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung said on the 28th, "I will do my utmost to create a transparent and fair market environment so that South Korea can leap forward as Asia's most attractive capital market."
In a video congratulatory address at the opening ceremony of "Korea Premium Week 2026" held at The Grand Lotte Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, President Lee said, "The capital market is more than simply a venue for transactions. It is a key driver that unlocks a country's growth potential and injects vitality into future innovative industries."
President Lee said, "The South Korean government has continued to pursue comprehensive institutional reforms to eliminate the 'Korea Discount,' which has been identified as a structural limitation of the country's capital market, and transform it into the 'Korea Premium.'"
He emphasized, "We have focused our efforts on fundamentally improving the capital market by strengthening shareholder protections through multiple amendments to the Commercial Act and restoring market confidence by tightening crackdowns and penalties for unfair trading."
President Lee said, "This event is a meaningful opportunity to share with global investors the vision and achievements of the reforms pursued so far, as well as the outstanding potential of South Korea's capital market." He added, "The slogan of this event is 'Gateway to Asia's Most Dynamic Capital Market.' I hope this will be a valuable opportunity to experience the dynamic growth potential of South Korea's capital market and discover promising investment opportunities through various meetings and exchanges."
Korea Premium Week 2026 is the country's largest capital market investor relations (IR) event, launched for the first time this year. It is jointly hosted by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and Korea Exchange (KRX) to promote the competitiveness of South Korea's capital market worldwide and establish a channel for communication.
