Seoul Selects 10 Outstanding Woori-dongne Kium Center Cases, Presents Mayor's Awards

[Financial News] Seoul Metropolitan Government has selected 10 outstanding cases of elementary-school child care that began with children's small questions and suggestions and extended to local communities. It will present the Seoul Metropolitan Mayor's Award to the winners. Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 28th that it will host the '2026 Woori-dongne Kium Center Best Practices Competition Awards Ceremony and Case-Sharing Session' with the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family on the 30th at the international conference hall of Seoul Women's Plaza.
The event was organized to identify outstanding operating practices at Woori-dongne Kium Centers, which provide children in need of after-school care with spaces for rest and play, and to share on-site experiences and achievements.
Through a competition held in June, Seoul Metropolitan Government identified outstanding practices in two categories: 'Seoul-style 5C Activities' and 'Center Operational Capacity-Building Activities.' After comprehensively evaluating their operating principles, originality, and applicability in the field, it selected 10 entries as award winners.
Seven entries were recognized in the Seoul-style 5C Activities category, including Songpa-gu Woori-dongne Kium Center No. 20's 'Play Time Capsule' and Seocho-gu Woori-dongne Kium Center No. 5's 'Breathing Path Project.' Seoul-style 5C Activities support children in thinking and growing independently through play and experience, based on the core principles of child-led participation, creativity, collaboration, confidence, and community.
Three entries were selected in the Center Operational Capacity-Building Activities category, including Guro-gu Woori-dongne Kium Center No. 19's 'A Shining Care Community Together, Hangari Shining Day,' Seongbuk-gu Woori-dongne Kium Center No. 11's 'YOU! KIDS? ON THE BLOCK~,' and Eunpyeong-gu Woori-dongne Kium Center No. 4's 'Ask the Children, Find the Answer in the Community.'
At the event, four centers—two from each category—will present their outstanding operating practices. Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to turn the winning entries into Woori-dongne Kium Center project materials and promotional content for citizens, and distribute them throughout the field.
Choi In-sung, Seoul Metropolitan Government's director in charge of child care, said, "I hope this will serve as an opportunity for the vivid experiences and know-how from the care field to spread to other centers. We will improve the quality of elementary-school care services centered on children."
