South Korea Takes Bronze in Sepak Takraw Women's Doubles After Semifinal Loss to Vietnam [Nagoya Asian Games]

South Korea lost to Vietnam 0-2 (6-15, 13-15) in the women's doubles semifinals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at Mizuho Park Gymnasium in Nagoya, Japan, on the 28th.
South Korea's captain, Lee Min-ju of Busan Environmental Corporation, served as the feeder, while Han Ye-ji of Busan Environmental Corporation played as the striker. Kim Se-young of Chungnam Sports Council prepared for the match as a substitute.
After losing the first set 6-15, South Korea pulled within two points at 13 in the second. However, the team ultimately failed to take the set, ending its hopes of reaching the final.
The result was particularly disappointing because the Philippines, which South Korea had defeated 2-1 in the preliminary round, beat Laos 2-0 in the other semifinal to reach the final. Vietnam, which defeated South Korea, will face the Philippines for the gold medal at 9 a.m. on the 29th at the same venue.
In this women's doubles event, the top two teams from each of the two groups advance to the semifinals. No separate bronze-medal match is held, and both semifinal losers are awarded bronze medals.
This is South Korea's first medal in women's doubles sepak takraw in 16 years since the bronze medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, and only the second in the country's history. South Korea failed to advance from the group stage at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, while women's regu was not included as an event at the 2018 and 2022 Games.
Han Ye-ji, Lee Min-ju and Kim Se-young, who also won medals in the women's team regu event, each finished the tournament with two medals.
