Hoban Group Joins Forces with Gangwon State and Goseong County to Develop Hwajinpo Lake International Resort

[Financial News] Hoban Group is moving ahead with the development of the Hwajinpo Lake International Resort and Tourist Area in Goseong County, Gangwon State. The agreement was designed to strengthen cooperation among Hoban Group, Gangwon State and Goseong County and promote the local economy and tourism industry. Hoban Group announced on the 28th that it had signed an investment agreement for the Hwajinpo Lake International Resort and Tourist Area Development Project with Gangwon State and Goseong County, together with Hoban Hotel & Resort.
Under the agreement, Hoban Hotel & Resort will work to expand its investment in the development of the Hwajinpo Lake International Resort and Tourist Area and the creation of jobs. Gangwon State and Goseong County agreed to actively cooperate by providing the administrative and financial support needed to ensure the smooth implementation of the project in accordance with relevant laws.
Based on its cooperation with the two local governments, Hoban Hotel & Resort will work to support the growth of the tourism industry in Gangwon State, the successful development of the Peace Economy Special Zone, and the revitalization of the local economy, including through the use of locally produced goods.
Hoban Hotel & Resort is pursuing the development of an integrated resort on a site of some 170,000 square meters in the Chodo-ri area of Hyeonnae-myeon, Goseong County, Gangwon State, with a total project cost of KRW 680 billion. The project will include accommodation facilities with a total of 450 rooms, along with various amenities such as dining, leisure and shopping facilities. By linking the resort with nearby tourist attractions, the company plans to develop it into a hub for stay-based leisure tourism. Following the groundbreaking in December 2025 for the relocation of the Chodo unit, Hoban Hotel & Resort completed the approval procedures this month for changes to the tourist-area development plan. Kim Seon-gyu, chairman of Hoban Group, said, "As a steadfast partner of Gangwon State and Goseong County, we will communicate and cooperate closely and pursue the project responsibly so that we can contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
