KOSPI Composite Index Teeters Near 6,900 on Foreign and Institutional Selling; KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) Gives Up Gains [Financial News Afternoon Market]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index fell to the 6,900 level amid selling by foreign investors and institutions. KOSDAQ, which had risen in the morning, gave up some of its gains in the afternoon.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX), as of 2:50 p.m. on the 28th, the KOSPI Composite Index was trading at 6905.46, down 175.46 points (2.48%) from the previous trading session. The index opened at 7057.86, down 23.06 points (0.33%) from the previous session's close, and has since extended its losses.
On the KOSPI market, foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 2.859 trillion won and 1.1187 trillion won, respectively. Individuals and other corporations were net buyers of 2.3269 trillion won and 1.6384 trillion won, respectively.
Among the top companies by market capitalization, AI-related large-cap stocks such as Samsung Electronics (-4.90%), SK hynix (-4.24%), SK Square (-8.07%), and Samsung Electro-Mechanics (-0.57%) were trading lower. LG Energy Solution (3.56%), Hyundai Motor (0.42%), Samsung Biologics (2.27%), and KB Financial Group (0.52%) were advancing.
By sector, electrical and electronics (-3.97%), manufacturing (-2.95%), distribution (-2.89%), securities (-1.29%), and real estate (-1.29%) were declining. Chemicals (3.16%), construction (3.06%), entertainment and culture (2.00%), insurance (1.43%), and transportation and warehousing (1.21%) were gaining.
At the same time, KOSDAQ was trading at 846.07, up 1.59 points (0.19%) from the previous session. KOSDAQ opened at 845.48, up 1.00 point (0.12%), and climbed as high as 861.15, a gain of 1.97%, before trimming its gains in the afternoon.
In KOSDAQ trading, foreign investors and individuals were buying shares worth 28.7 billion won and 11.1 billion won, respectively. Institutions were selling shares worth 45.1 billion won.
