Yulchon Launches 'Mega Project Strategic Support Center'... "Driving the Success of Advanced Industries" [Law Firm News]

[Financial News] Yulchon has begun promoting large-scale advanced-industry and infrastructure projects, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, and power and energy.
Yulchon announced on the 28th that it had officially launched the Mega Project Strategic Support Center as part of its efforts to advance projects in advanced industries and infrastructure.
Yulchon's Mega Project Strategic Support Center operates under a 'One Center - Multi Practice Group' structure. Centered on a single center, dedicated teams specializing in areas such as C&F, real estate and construction, environment and energy, IP&Tech, TMT, fair trade, M&A, international trade, taxation, and technology export and import controls participate and form the optimal combination of teams depending on the matter.
The center covers the entire process, from identifying projects and designing business structures to regulatory assessments, investment and project financing (PF), permitting, and operations. Regardless of the stage of a project or the issues that arise, clients can receive consistent advice from a single team that understands the project's full background and context.
The center's launch is differentiated by its adoption of project-based engagements rather than short-term, issue-specific 'case engagements.' It combines Yulchon's legal expertise with an external expert network to provide comprehensive solutions in the form of 'strategy + legal services + implementation support.' In addition, the center designs a legal risk map for each stage of a project, enabling it to secure both shorter project timelines and stability through proactive risk management.
The center is led by attorney Son Geum-ju, who has worked extensively in broadcasting and communications, energy, fair trade, and data-driven artificial intelligence. Son is a policy and legal expert who has served as chair of the Legislative Review Subcommittee of the National Assembly Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, advisory attorney to the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), and a member of the Presidential Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (PCFIR).
Park Ji-woong, an expert in legislation, policy, and taxation, is also joining the team as a key member. Park has extensive experience advising on taxation and policy across the legislative and executive branches and political parties, having served as an aide to a National Assembly member, a tax policy research committee member of the Democratic Party of Korea, a policy aide to the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Economy and Finance, and an administrative officer in the Office of the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Office of the President. Attorney Kim Min-sun, who primarily handles legal matters and regulations related to the environment, ESG, and energy, is also contributing her expertise.
The center has also been joined by Moon Sung-wook, an adviser and former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy; Son Gyeong-jong, an adviser and current vice chair of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Semiconductor Strategy Committee; Gu Gi-seong, an adviser and former Deputy Secretary-General for Legislation of the National Assembly Secretariat; Kwon Yong-bok, an adviser and former Director-General of the Aviation Safety Bureau and the Construction Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; Lee Min-ho, an adviser and former head of the Environmental Policy Office at the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment; Jeong Yeong-ik, an adviser and former head of the Gori Nuclear Power, Wolseong Nuclear Power, and Han River Hydropower divisions at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power; Yoon Oh-jun, an adviser and former Third Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service; Kim Jeong-won, an adviser and former head of the Information and Communications Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT; and Choi Yong-Sun, a senior specialist adviser and former senior administrative officer at the State Affairs Situation Room of the Office of the President.
