Gangneung to Build Advanced Agricultural Technology Center in Sacheon Jilli at a Cost of 67.2 Billion Won

[Financial News, Gangneung = Kim Gi-seop, Reporter] Gangneung Agricultural Technology Center will relocate to Sacheon Jilli, Sacheon-myeon, and construct a new headquarters there with a project budget of 67.2 billion won. The facility is scheduled to open in 2029.
According to Gangneung City on the 28th, the city held a report meeting on the schematic design for the construction of the new Gangneung Agricultural Technology Center headquarters that day to review progress on the relocation and construction project. City officials, representatives of agricultural organizations, and experts in related fields attended the meeting, sharing the results of the schematic design and exchanging views.
Recommendations raised at the meeting will undergo final review before being incorporated into the detailed design. Gangneung City plans to complete the detailed design by May next year, begin the main construction in June, and accelerate the project toward completion in 2029.
The new headquarters will house key advanced agricultural facilities, including a microorganism cultivation facility, a Scientific Agriculture Hall, smart farms, and an Agricultural Products Processing Support Center.
During the design process, the city visited similar facilities operated by other local governments and gathered input from all departments to completely redesign and revise the floor plans for these facilities. Based on this work, it finalized the building layout and floor plans, incorporating a detailed customized design aimed at significantly improving user convenience. Gangneung City expects the new headquarters to serve as a foundation for strengthening the future competitiveness of regional agriculture and providing advanced agricultural administrative services.
Kim Gyeong-tae, director of the Gangneung Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will further enhance the design by incorporating the views of farmers and experts expressed at this meeting into the plans refined through visits to facilities in other local governments and input from each department. We will turn the new headquarters in Sacheon Jilli, equipped with smart farms and scientific agriculture facilities, into an advanced hub that will lead Gangneung agriculture for the next 100 years."
