"Yoo Si-min's delusion that 'the President deceived the people'"... Judicial Justice Civic Action files police complaint for defamation

[Financial News] Writer Rhyu Si-min was reported to the police after criticizing President Lee Jae Myung's plan for prosecution reform, calling it "a deception of the people."

According to Yonhap News and other reports on the 28th, Judicial Justice Civic Action announced that it had filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against writer Rhyu Si-min on charges of defamation by stating false facts in violation of the Information and Communications Network Act.
Earlier, on the 22nd, writer Rhyu Si-min appeared on the YouTube channel 'Media Today' and, referring to President Lee Jae Myung's recent press conference regarding prosecution reform, said, "President Lee Jae Myung stated that the maximum extent of prosecution reform is to separate the 'prosecution that conducts investigations' and the 'prosecution that indicts' within the Ministry of Justice. I was shocked to see the President saying that at the press conference."
He continued by asserting, "This is incorrect and not true," adding, "I have never once heard such a thing." He further criticized, "The terms 'separation of investigation and prosecution' and 'prosecution reform' were used together, but their meanings were different," and accused the President of "deceiving the people all this time."
Kim Hanme, the standing representative of Judicial Justice Civic Action, argued that writer Rhyu Si-min's remarks constituted false facts.
Standing Representative Kim Hanme pointed out, "The crime of defamation by stating false facts is established even when one fails to recognize that something is untrue with just a little attention, and it includes willful negligence." He added, "Writer Rhyu Si-min lowered President Lee Jae Myung's social reputation and defamed his honor by stating false facts to the effect that President Lee Jae Myung deceived the public and effectively obstructed prosecution reform."

He stated in the complaint, "If we recall the process of President Lee Jae Myung's conduct of state affairs witnessed by the majority of the public over the past year, such as live broadcasts of Cabinet meetings and press conferences, writer Rhyu Si-min's remarks contradict objective facts and are rather closer to delusion."
He continued by urging, "Writer Rhyu Si-min disseminated false information to strengthen his position as a 'big speaker' within the democratic progressive camp while emphasizing his political views to the public," and requested a thorough investigation to prevent the constitutional principle of equality before the law from being applied differently to a prominent speaker of the ruling party, thereby further eroding public trust in the criminal justice system.
Meanwhile, President Lee Jae Myung wrote on X (formerly Twitter) the previous day, "Let us go nobly, even if they act vulgarly, so that the watching public can evaluate."
Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, also emphasized on the party's YouTube broadcast 'Minty 07' on the same day, in response to a question about the necessity of legal action at the party level, "Just because the other party does it doesn't mean we have to do it. We ourselves must exercise restraint to resolve this issue," adding, "It would be best to start by minimizing expressions that might make the other party feel uncomfortable."
