Women’s 25m Pistol Team Wins Silver Despite Delayed-Firing Setback [20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya]

[Financial News] South Korea’s women’s shooting team won the silver medal in the 25m pistol team event at the 2026 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya. Although a delayed firing on Yang Ji-in’s (Woori Bank) shot resulted in zero points, Bong Seo-rin (Gwangju City Sports Council) helped secure the medal by scoring 292 points in rapid fire.
Bong Seo-rin, Yang Ji-in and Oh Ye-jin (Industrial Bank of Korea) placed second with a combined score of 1,735 points, including 65 inner tens, in the women’s 25m pistol individual qualification and team event at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Range in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the 28th. China won gold with 1,743 points, while Taiwan took bronze with 1,734, one point behind South Korea.
South Korea had combined for 870 points in the precision stage the previous day, taking a two-point lead over China’s 868. However, the team could not hold on to the lead in rapid fire after Yang Ji-in’s 21st shot was fired late and recorded as zero points.
Bong Seo-rin scored 98 points with her first 10 shots in rapid fire. She managed only 47 points with the next five, but then hit the 10-point target with all five of her following shots to add 50 points. She scored 97 with her final 10 shots, finishing with a rapid-fire total of 292 points.
Adding her 289 points from the previous day’s precision stage, Bong Seo-rin finished seventh overall in the individual qualification with 581 points, including 14 inner tens, securing a place in the final. Oh Ye-jin ranked 10th with 579 points and 24 inner tens, while Yang Ji-in placed 17th with 575 points and 27 inner tens, missing out on the final.
After the competition, Yang Ji-in explained to reporters that her shot had been delayed and said, "I’m sorry to my teammates who prepared for this together."
Following the bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, the gold medal at Asian Games Incheon 2014 and the bronze medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, South Korea has won a medal at all four Asian Games in which the women’s 25m pistol team event has been held.
