Chinese state media: "U.S.-China agreement is a historic achievement... The U.S. must turn its promises into action"

[Financial News] China's state-run media outlet assessed the summit agreement between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping as a 'historic achievement' and urged the United States to implement the deal.
In an editorial published on the 28th under the headline 'The eight-point China-U.S. agreement sends an important signal,' China's state-run Global Times and its affiliated English-language outlet, Global Times, claimed that "the two major powers sent a positive signal by moving in the same direction and pursuing peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation."
The eight-point agreement refers to an announcement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China on the 26th that served as a fact sheet on the summit. It includes the establishment of "a constructive strategic stability relationship based on respect, fairness, and equality," mutual tariff reductions worth $30 billion (approximately 40.8 trillion won), cooperation on drug enforcement, and the creation of dialogue and communication channels on artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-related incidents.
It also includes mutual support for hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Group of Twenty (G20) summits, as well as panda leasing.
The paper identified the two countries' agreement to establish "a constructive strategic stability relationship based on respect, fairness, and equality" as a key political achievement of the summit. It explained that 'respect' means respecting the other country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, social system and development path, core interests, and major concerns, while 'fairness' means not seeking absolute unilateral superiority.
Regarding 'equality,' it claimed that this means "the two countries' sovereignty is equal, neither side acts coercively, and each country's concerns are addressed equally."
The paper also cited mutual tariff reductions and joint investigations into new types of narcotics, assessing that "it has been proven that China and the United States can accomplish a series of major tasks through cooperation."
It interpreted the two leaders' agreement to mutually support hosting the APEC and G20 summits as a demonstration of their willingness to strengthen cooperation through multilateral mechanisms and jointly promote stability and development.
The paper nevertheless pressed the United States to implement the agreement, saying that the leaders' deal must lead to concrete action.
Global Times stated, "The agreement must be backed by concrete actions," adding, "It remains to be seen whether the United States will turn its promises into actual action on key issues such as tariffs, technology controls, and Taiwan."
It continued, "The various ministries, sectors, and institutions at all levels in both countries must faithfully implement the agreement reached by the two leaders," arguing that they must turn into reality the vision that "cooperation should be prioritized, competition restrained, differences controlled, and peace made possible."
