Sancheong Saemaul Geumgo History Museum Becomes a Space for Financial Education and Cultural Experiences... 45,000 Cumulative Visitors

[Financial News] The Saemaul Geumgo History Museum in Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province, has established itself as a cultural complex that provides local residents and customers of the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives with opportunities for financial education and cultural experiences. In addition to cultural content, the museum teaches children basic economic concepts and helps seniors learn how to prevent voice phishing and use digital financial services, expanding educational opportunities for different age groups. 
According to financial industry sources on the 28th, the Saemaul Geumgo History Museum had attracted a cumulative 45,000 visitors from its opening in November 2021 through the first half of this year.
The museum was established to introduce the history and social role of the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives. The three-story above-ground facility includes exhibition halls, a themed video theater, an auditorium, a self-service café and a rooftop garden, allowing visitors to enjoy exhibitions, education and relaxation in one place. Admission is free, making it easily accessible.
In particular, the museum is expanding educational and cultural content available locally, helping residents enjoy learning and leisure close to home without having to travel to distant areas such as the Seoul metropolitan region.
The museum’s permanent exhibition consists of three halls that connect the past, present and future of the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives. The first hall, 'Half a Century of Accumulated Time,' introduces the origins of community credit cooperatives, which began with a foundation in mutual help, diligence and thrift, through donated items and videos. The second hall, 'Leap and New Growth,' presents major changes, including the enactment of the Community Credit Cooperatives Act, as well as the organization’s growth as a financial institution serving ordinary people. The third hall, 'The Next 100 Years,' explores the future of financial cooperatives that practice mutual growth and sharing.
The museum also offers financial education tailored to different age groups. Its children's financial classes use hands-on activities to teach preschoolers and elementary school students basic economic concepts and the importance of saving. From 2022 through this year, the program has served a total of 814 children. Senior financial classes have focused on practical topics such as voice phishing prevention and digital finance. Since 2022, they have been provided to a total of 1,289 people, helping improve financial literacy among older adults.
A museum official said, "The Saemaul Geumgo History Museum is more than an exhibition space that introduces the history of the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives and the values of cooperatives. It is an open community space that provides local residents and customers with opportunities for diverse educational and cultural experiences. We will continue to expand our programs and content so that all generations, from children to seniors, can learn together and enjoy culture."
