Cho Hee-dae: "The renomination request only said, 'Do it'"... Expected to state his position at National Assembly audit

[Financial News] Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae indicated that he would state his position through a National Assembly audit regarding Cheong Wa Dae's request for the renomination of a Supreme Court justice. He also said he would effectively end Q&A sessions on his way to work and communicate through the spokesperson of the National Court Administration.
At around 9:09 a.m. on the 28th, Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae met with reporters as he arrived for work at the Supreme Court of Korea in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Asked whether he would uphold his nomination of Judge Son Bong-gi of the Daegu District Court, he replied, "I hope you won't have to come out here every day," adding, "As I said last time, if you have any questions, I will relay them through the spokesperson from now on."
He continued, "The request itself only said to renominate him," adding, "We only gave the conclusion in our response, so I understand that you have many questions." He then stated, "We will discuss those matters through the National Assembly audit from now on, and if anything is absolutely necessary, I will relay it through the spokesperson."
Attention is focused on whether Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae will offer an explanation regarding the nomination of a Supreme Court justice at the National Assembly audit beginning next month.
On the 18th of last month, Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae nominated Judge Son Bong-gi in writing to succeed former Supreme Court Justice Rho Tae-ak. Ten days later, Cheong Wa Dae demanded a renomination, saying the written nomination had been made without substantive consultation between the president and the chief justice, and did not submit the appointment consent motion to the National Assembly. On the 22nd, Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae rejected the request, saying the official letter requesting renomination did not specify concrete reasons or constitutional grounds. The following day, he said it was difficult to accept Cheong Wa Dae's claim of procedural flaws in light of the Constitution and relevant laws.
