[Financial News] Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are trading lower on the first trading day after the Chuseok holiday.
As of 10:14 a.m. on the 28th, Samsung Electronics was trading at 275,250 won, down 10,250 won, or 3.59%, from the previous session. SK hynix was trading at 1,787,000 won, down 75,000 won, or 4.03%.
Samsung Electronics Preferred Shares and SK Square were also down 4.32% and 5.92%, respectively.
The market is digesting global stock-market events that occurred during the holiday. From the 23rd to the 25th, the 10-year Treasury yield in the United States rose by 20 basis points (1 bp = 0.01 percentage point). The 30-year yield climbed as high as 5.519% during the session, its highest level since June 2004.
Analysts expect volatility to increase as interest rates and earnings-related factors come into play.
Han Ji-young, a researcher at KIWOOM Securities, said, "The stock market will face uncertainty surrounding rising long-term Treasury yields in the United States this week, but the recovery in leadership among AI infrastructure stocks, including semiconductors driven by Agentic AI, will provide upward momentum."
She added, "The event with the most direct impact on semiconductor stock prices and market flows is Micron Technology's earnings report, scheduled for release before the domestic market opens on the first of next month." She further assessed, "Volatility may emerge as the market digests major domestic and overseas events clustered toward the end of the week, including Micron Technology's earnings, export figures and employment data."
