[Financial News] Actress Kwon Min-a, a former member of girl group AOA, said her mother was in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest and being hospitalized in an intensive care unit. She has publicly begun searching for the whereabouts of her older sister, with whom contact has been lost.
On the 28th, Kwon Min-a posted on social media, "Please, I'm begging you. Please include my sister's name and at least publish an article. If anyone has seen her, please pass along this message." She added, "My mother is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Myongji Hospital in Goyang City. Her condition is extremely serious, to the point that further deterioration could cause brain damage or even threaten her life."
Addressing her missing older sister, she angrily said, "Don't regret this later—please contact us. Knowing that our mother ended up in this condition because of you, how can you avoid us?" She continued, "I reported her to the police several times, but because she is an adult, they could only confirm whether she was alive. They could not find out where she lived or where she was." She added, "If using social media can help me find my sister, I have to do whatever I can."
The previous night, on the 27th, Kwon Min-a had also taken to social media to announce that her mother had suffered cardiac arrest and ask people to pray. Along with a photo of herself with her mother, she wrote, "Mom, I'm sorry. Please pray for her." She then mentioned her older sister by name and angrily vented, saying, "Even after being told that she had suffered cardiac arrest, you still won't answer my calls."
The conflict between Kwon Min-a and her older sister previously came to light over financial issues. On the 4th, Kwon Min-a claimed on social media that her sister had embezzled approximately 700 million to 800 million won in funds belonging to Kwon Min-a, their mother, and an acquaintance of their mother.
At the time, Kwon Min-a said, "I personally paid for my sister's breast cancer treatment and cosmetic surgery, and through another fraud, she even made me sign for the purchase of a vehicle worth more than 100 million won." She warned, "If there is no sincere apology and acknowledgment, I will file a complaint on charges including fraud, embezzlement, and forgery of private documents." However, these allegations are solely Kwon Min-a's claims, and no specific explanation or position from her older sister, with whom contact has been lost, has been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Kwon Min-a made her debut with AOA in 2012 and pursued a career with the group before leaving in 2019 to become an actress. As news of her mother's sudden critical condition has resurfaced a long-running financial dispute within the family, expressions of sympathy and concern have continued online.
