Jang Dong-hyuk: "The public has decided to break up with Lee Jae Myung—the day of reckoning is not far off"

[Financial News] People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk said on the 28th, "The public has decided to break up with President Lee Jae Myung," adding, "Whether he steps down voluntarily or the public brings him down, the day of reckoning is not far off."
Jang said at a supreme council meeting held at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea that "the public sentiment during Chuseok was clear," adding, "It was that they could not endure even three months, let alone three years."
He said, "With people's livelihoods in ruins amid a real estate hell, farmland exploitation, the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) crisis, soaring prices and high interest rates, the president is fixated only on dropping criminal charges and securing another term. North Korea is firing missiles, flying fighter jets and crossing the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) to lay mines, yet the president went to the United States and called for lifting sanctions against North Korea."
He went on to criticize the government, saying, "Now they say they will create a special investigative headquarters for insurrection. After conducting three special counsel investigations and a comprehensive special counsel investigation, is this still not enough? With his approval rating plummeting, he is trying to revive the insurrection campaign. The public is fed up with it now."
Jang argued, "The government must make a major shift in real estate policy, halt its comprehensive farmland survey, and launch a special counsel investigation into the ETF crisis to punish those responsible for the public's 54 trillion won in losses. It must give up on dropping the charges, abandon a constitutional amendment allowing another term, and focus on people's livelihoods. That is the only way, at least, to extend the administration's life."
Regarding the suspected mine incident in the DMZ, he claimed that President Lee Jae Myung had deliberately delayed the investigation. He said, "Instead of doing what a president is supposed to do, he focused only on protecting Kim Jong Un's sensibilities and ended up causing a battalion commander in our military to lose his ankle. (Over those six days,) North Korean troops may have crossed over again and destroyed evidence, and the evidence may have disappeared after rain fell during the holiday. How will he be held accountable if North Korea's responsibility cannot be proven?"
He raised his voice, saying, "Everything must be disclosed, without omission, about what reports the president received and what instructions he gave from the North Korean military's incursion across the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) in June to the present. If the president ordered the cover-up of the incident, that itself is grounds for impeachment. It is an act benefiting the enemy and a crime of aiding a foreign enemy that warrants immediate investigation, even beyond impeachment."
Regarding the repatriation of North Korean military prisoners, he said, "If there is a reason to keep it hidden, it can only be Kim Jong Un's hurt feelings. If the president has no intention of protecting the people, he should not remain in office. Whether he resigns voluntarily or the public brings him down, the day of reckoning is not far off."
