[Financial News] Solar-related stocks, including Hanwha Solutions, surged early in the session amid growing expectations that they will benefit from news that U.S. solar prices are set to rise.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX), as of 9:46 a.m. on the 28th, Hanwha Solutions was trading at 33,200 won on the KOSPI market, up 4,000 won, or 13.707%, from the previous trading day.
OCI Holdings was also trading at 228,000 won, up 10.68% from the previous trading day.
Investor sentiment was boosted by analyses from the financial sector that domestic solar companies are expected to benefit as U.S. solar module and polysilicon prices rise together.
Yoon Jae-sung, a researcher at Hana Securities, said, "Prices could rise sharply after the policy takes effect on December 4," adding, "Amid the U.S.-China rivalry for dominance in AI and semiconductors, as well as defense and space, the solar industry tied to polysilicon for semiconductors is being reevaluated as a strategic national-security asset of the United States."
