Yeungnam University College Launches Department of AI Logistics Automation in Partnership with Coupang

[Financial News, Daegu—Kim Jang-wook, Reporter] Yeungnam University College is partnering with Coupang Fulfillment Services (CFS) to train industry-ready technical talent who will lead the future logistics sector.
Yeungnam University College is launching the Department of AI Logistics Automation in response to the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI)-based logistics industry and the logistics center automation market.
The Department of AI Logistics Automation is a two-year, practice-oriented program that integrates artificial intelligence, logistics automation, equipment maintenance, and smart factory technologies. It will admit 50 freshmen starting in the 2027 academic year.
The department aims to train AI-based equipment operation and maintenance specialists with the skills required at automated logistics sites, including equipment operation, inspection, maintenance, preventive maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
The Department of AI Logistics Automation is jointly operated with CFS. Students will have opportunities linked to employment at CFS after completing the curriculum, and all graduates will receive employment benefits.
President Lee Jae-yong emphasized, "We will actively support the Department of AI Logistics Automation as an industry-centered program linked with CFS so that students can grow into key talent in the advanced logistics industry." He added, "We will spare no effort to ensure that the department serves as a foundation for developing talent for the region's future industries and as a strong starting point for young people seeking to take on new technology fields."
Graduates will receive additional points when applying to CFS, and various opportunities will be available through a separate career fast track after they join the company.
The Department of AI Logistics Automation is significant because it represents an industry-academia cooperation model that goes beyond a simple agreement or one-time field training to consider both employment support for students and career development after they join the company. Yeungnam University College is also working to establish a practical training environment. Last July, it opened the AI Logistics Education Center with CFS and began training specialized talent to lead the era of AI- and robot-based logistics automation in earnest.
CFS provided three automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and five sorting bots used at actual logistics sites for educational purposes.
At the AI Logistics Education Center established on campus, students will use actual industrial equipment to learn the operating principles and workflow of AI-based logistics automation systems.
