[Financial News]  In the AI era, the paradigm of reading education for preschool and elementary-age children is shifting from uniform, high-volume reading and grade-specific required books to personalized reading that takes each child’s level and preferences into account.
Woongjin ThinkBig said on the 28th that a reading education discussion video posted on its official YouTube channel surpassed 1 million cumulative views within six days of its release. The video featured Yun Seung-hyun, CEO of Woongjin ThinkBig, and Cho Byeong-young, a literacy expert and professor at Hanyang University, discussing the right direction for reading education in the AI era.
The video highlighted the limitations of the conventional practice of recommending the same books based on a child’s grade or age. It emphasized the need for personalized reading education that comprehensively reflects a child’s reading level, preferences, and temperament.
One point that particularly resonated with parents was the shift in perspective on selective reading. Rather than worrying when children repeatedly read books in only one particular field, the video explained that this should be viewed as a starting point for expanding their reading as they discover their own preferences and explore their interests in depth.
As this message spread, parents continued to respond positively, saying it prompted them to reconsider an educational approach that had focused on forcing children to read only required books for their age group.
Woongjin ThinkBig’s free diagnostic campaign for KRS (Korea Reading System), a personalized reading growth solution launched this month, surpassed 60,000 cumulative assessments within 10 days of its start. KRS is a system that assesses children’s reading ability, reading disposition, and preferences multidimensionally before recommending the most suitable books.
Woongjin ThinkBig plans to roll out follow-up content, including a dedicated series featuring literacy experts and discussions with bestselling authors, offering practical reading strategies tailored to each child’s characteristics.
Kim Jin-gak, head of Woongjin ThinkBig’s marketing office, said, "We will establish a new standard for reading education by helping children find books suited to them and the right ways to read."
