[Financial News] Aekyung Industrial will present research findings on cosmetic ingredients and formulation technologies at the World Congress of Cosmetic Science.
On the 28th, Aekyung Industrial said it will present a total of three studies at the 2026 World Congress of Cosmetic Science, which is being held in Australia from that day through the first of next month. The presentations will include two studies on cosmetic ingredient discovery and one on formulation technology.
First, the company developed a plant-based polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) ingredient derived from mugwort, a plant native to Korea, and confirmed its efficacy in skin recovery and elasticity. Aekyung Industrial has completed domestic patent registration and filed an overseas patent application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) to develop it as a cosmetic ingredient that can replace salmon-derived PDRN. It has also developed plant-based PDRN ingredients from five plant species, including mugwort, Brussels sprouts and birch.
Aekyung Industrial discovered a new lactic acid bacteria strain isolated from Acute-leaf Indian dendranthema and is using it as a fermented cosmetic ingredient. The company confirmed the ingredient's efficacy in skin brightening, moisturization, skin barrier support and microbiome balance. It plans to use the ingredient in future research on exosomes and three-dimensional artificial skin.
The company will also showcase a sunscreen formulation technology. By analyzing the particle size and shape and surface coating of Zinc Oxide, an inorganic UV-blocking ingredient, Aekyung Industrial secured technology that maintains UV-protection efficacy while reducing its content by 27% and improving the white cast by 75%. The technology will also be applied to over-the-counter (OTC) sunscreen products in the United States.
Lee Hye-suk, a researcher with the Beauty Convergence Research Team at Aekyung Industrial's Cosmetics Research Institute, said, "Through differentiated research and development, we will build proprietary technological capabilities and further strengthen our competitiveness in the global beauty market."
