Six in 10 Seoul Government Civil Service Exam Passers Are Women; Youngest Born in 2008

[Financial News] Six out of 10 final successful candidates in Seoul's Grade 8 and 9 civil service recruitment examination were women.  Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 28th that it had finalized the list of 2,775 successful candidates for the first 2026 Seoul Metropolitan City local civil service recruitment examination. The candidates were selected through interviews held from August 24 to the 10th of this month, from among 3,236 people who passed the written examination for new Grade 8 and 9 general civil service positions held on June 20.
Women accounted for 1,686, or 60.8%, of the successful candidates. Men accounted for 1,089, or 39.2%. Seoul Metropolitan Government explained that the proportion of successful female candidates was high, similar to the previous year.
People in their 20s made up the largest age group, with 1,462 candidates, or 52.7%. They were followed by those in their 30s with 1,011 candidates (36.4%), those in their 40s with 237 (8.5%), those in their 50s with 56 (2.1%), and teenagers with nine (0.3%). A combined 2,473 successful candidates were in their 20s or 30s, accounting for 89.1% of the total.
The youngest successful candidate was a woman born in 2008 who passed the Grade 9 general administration examination. The oldest was a man born in 1969 who passed the Grade 9 social welfare examination.
By grade, 2,521 successful candidates were appointed to Grade 9 positions, while 254 were appointed to Grade 8 nursing positions. By occupational group, there were 1,735 administrative positions and 1,040 science and technology positions.
Meanwhile, Seoul Metropolitan Government will hold the written examination for its second civil service recruitment round on the 31st of next month, selecting 383 candidates, including for Grade 7 general administration positions. A total of 12,068 people applied, resulting in an average competition rate of 31.5 to 1. The final successful candidates are scheduled to be announced on January 6 next year.
