 Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) has launched efforts to attract visitors staying in the region during the fall through the '2026 Korea Accommodation Discount Festa—Fall Edition.'
 Oh Mi-kyung, head of Gwangju Metropolitan City's Tourism Division, explained, "We organized this event to ease the burden of accommodation costs for travelers during the autumn travel season and to boost local tourism spending."
 According to Gwangju Metropolitan City, the 'Korea Accommodation Discount Festa' is a nationwide accommodation discount support program jointly promoted with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO). The program aims to increase tourism demand in non-capital regions and revitalize the local accommodation and tourism industries.
 Accommodation discount coupons can be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, one per person per day, through online travel agencies such as MyRealTrip, WEB TOUR, KakaoTalk Booking, NOL, 11st, and Gmarket from 10 a.m. each day through November 8. They can be used from the date of issuance through the event period.
 When booking hotels, condominiums, pensions, or other accommodations in Jeonnam-Gwangju, travelers receive a 20,000-won discount for payments under 70,000 won and a 30,000-won discount for payments of 70,000 won or more. Bookings for two or more consecutive nights totaling at least 140,000 won qualify for a discount of up to 70,000 won.
 In particular, the discounts are larger in the 13 cities and counties with islands—Gangjin County, Goheung County, Gwangyang, Mokpo, Muan County, Boseong County, Sinan County, Yeosu, Yeonggwang County, Wando, Jangheung County, Jindo Island, and Haenam County. Payments under 70,000 won receive a 30,000-won discount, while payments of 70,000 won or more receive a 50,000-won discount.
 Information on participating travel agencies and how to issue and use the discount coupons is available on the official website of the 'Korea Accommodation Discount Festa.'
 Oh Mi-kyung, head of the Tourism Division, said, "I hope visitors enjoy an affordable and memorable autumn trip in Jeonnam-Gwangju while experiencing the region's major festivals and tourist attractions, including the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo and the 16th Gwangju Biennale, along with the cuisine of the southern region."
