[Financial News] A 90-year-old bodybuilder who runs a gym in Hiroshima, Japan, has won the Japanese Masters Championships once again.
Once 'Mr. Japan,' he still runs a gym at 90

Hosted by the Japan Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (JBBF), the competition brings together bodybuilders aged 40 and older from across the country to determine Japan's best competitors in each age group. A total of 112 athletes competed in the men's 60-and-over division. Kanazawa drew the most attention as the oldest competitor in the event, having turned 90 on August 29, the day before the competition.
Competing as the only 90-year-old athlete in the 85-and-over division, Kanazawa won the title that day and lifted his 17th Japanese Masters Championships trophy. Including his two Japanese Championships victories, he now has 19 championship wins in total.
Born in 1936 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Kanazawa's career is essentially the history of bodybuilding in Japan. He won the Japanese Championships in 1960 and 1963, when he was in his 20s, earning the title of 'Mr. Japan' twice. In 1965, he founded Hiroshima's first training gym, the Hiroshima Training Center, which he continues to run today.
"The conviction to keep going" is his secret to good health ... His breakfast consists of miso soup, rice and blueberries

According to Shinhiroshima Telecasting (TSS), Japanese fitness magazine VIT UP and other local media outlets on the 19th, Toshisuke Kanazawa, 90, took first place in the men's 60-and-over division at the 38th Japanese Masters Championships, held on the 30th of last month at the Hiroshima International Conference Center.
Explaining why he continues to take on challenges at 90, Kanazawa emphasized, "You only live once. I want to create many honors and records until the day I die," adding, "At 90, I live alone and cook, clean and do the laundry by myself, but it is not bothersome at all. That's because I have a goal I need to achieve: bodybuilding."
Even now that he is 90, Kanazawa's workout routine is demanding. He reportedly exercises for two hours every day, changing the body parts he trains according to the day of the week, and he follows a strict diet. Since he was 50, he has maintained a Japanese-style diet centered on rice, miso soup and natto. These days, he also eats one packet of blueberries a day.
Asked about his secret to good health, he said, "The most important thing is the 'conviction' to keep going," adding, "Having something I can devote myself to has kept me young mentally. In my case, that is continuing to exercise."
His next goal is to remain active in bodybuilding until he is 93. Kanazawa said, "If I have few wrinkles, I will continue bodybuilding until I am 93. I will work hard to keep wrinkles from appearing," adding, "After that, I want to set many world-class records."
