Nexen Tire to Supply Additional 20-Inch Tires for Kia Sorento Hybrid

[Financial News] Nexen Tire is expanding the specifications of the original-equipment tires it supplies for the Kia Sorento Hybrid. In addition to the existing 17-inch tires, the company will supply 20-inch tires for Korean-market models, broadening its supply base in the midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) market. The strategy is aimed at increasing original-equipment (OE) tire supplies by strengthening cooperation with automakers in South Korea and abroad.
Nexen Tire said on the 28th that it will additionally supply 20-inch Roadian GTX all-season tires designed for SUVs for the 2027 Kia Sorento Hybrid. The existing 17-inch tires are fitted on vehicles sold in South Korea and North America, while the newly added 20-inch tires are fitted on vehicles sold in South Korea.
Roadian GTX was developed for SUV driving characteristics, with braking performance, snow traction, wear resistance, and quietness taken into account. It uses a special rubber compound designed to respond to temperature changes. Its zigzag tread pattern distributes pressure across the contact area and reduces pulling while driving.
The company also focused on improving wear resistance to extend replacement intervals. Nexen Tire explained that this has helped secure the durability and efficiency required for hybrid SUVs.
Roadian GTX is also supplied as original-equipment tires for the Kia EV5, Kia EV6, Renault Filante, and Jeep Cherokee. Nexen Tire is expanding its customer base among automakers in South Korea and abroad, including premium brands such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.
A Nexen Tire representative said, "The expanded OE supply demonstrates that the technological capabilities and quality of our products continue to be recognized in global markets," adding, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with global automakers and expand our original-equipment tire supplies."
