[Financial News] On the 27th, Cheong Wa Dae demanded an official explanation and apology from the Ukrainian government for publicly disclosing the repatriation of North Korean prisoners of war to South Korea and announcing that no confidential agreement had existed.
Seong Gi-hong, Cheong Wa Dae's senior secretary for public relations and communication, said in a statement that the Ukrainian side had first requested security measures and that the two sides had agreed to keep the matter confidential. He then criticized the Office of the President of Ukraine's denial of the agreement as a false public announcement, calling it "an act that seriously undermines trust between the governments of the two countries and causes grave damage to the friendly relations between the two countries."
Seong said, "We demand an official explanation and apology," adding, "We are reviewing further measures that may be necessary regarding this issue."
