United Nations Command (UNC), South Korean Military Approach Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Explosion Site; ROK JCS Pledges "Transparent Disclosure to the Public"

[Financial News] The South Korean military and UNC jointly approached an area near the location where an explosion is believed to have occurred inside the DMZ on the western front on the 27th to conduct an on-site investigation into the suspected mine explosion. It was six days after three South Korean military officers suffered moderate to serious injuries in an explosion suspected to have been caused by a North Korean mine in the DMZ on the 21st.
According to the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff (ROK JCS), the field investigation team deployed that day consisted of about 40 personnel, including South Korean military operational troops, the UNC Military Armistice Commission, including its secretary-general and others, and investigative agencies. Some of the officers who had carried out the operation on the 21st also participated.
At the head of the team, South Korean troops and UNC personnel operated mine detectors and other equipment, conducting detailed searches for mines along maneuver routes inside the DMZ and expanding those routes from around 9 a.m. until sunset.
A ROK JCS official said, "The investigation area is an unverified minefield inside the DMZ and poses significant risks. In addition, the operational personnel were extremely fatigued, so we ended today's operation with safety as our top priority and decided to resume it at a later date."
The official also pledged, "The South Korean military and UNC plan to thoroughly determine the cause of the accident and other details through additional on-site investigations. We will explain the confirmed facts to the public objectively and transparently. "
