Boxers Minseong Kim and Jang Dong Hwan Secure Bronze Medals; Semifinals on the 30th [Nagoya Asian Games]

[Financial News] South Korean national boxers Minseong Kim and Jang Dong Hwan both advanced to the semifinals at the 2026 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya, securing bronze medals.
On the 27th, Minseong Kim defeated Indonesia's Maikel Roberd Muskita by a 4-1 decision in the men's 80-kilogram quarterfinal at Nishio Gymnasium in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture.
Kim got off to a shaky start. He trailed 1-4 on the scorecards in the first round, as four of the five judges awarded Muskita 10 points and gave him the early advantage.
Kim began his comeback in the second round. Throwing punches aggressively, he earned 10 points from all five judges to level the bout.
Building on that momentum, Kim pressed his opponent hard in the third round as well. He received 10 points from four judges and secured a 4-1 victory on the final decision.
In the men's 60-kilogram quarterfinal that followed, Jang Dong Hwan defeated Thailand's Sakda Ruamtham by a 3-2 decision.
Jang also struggled early. After trailing 1-4 in the first round, he fell further behind at 2-3 in the second and was pushed to the brink.
But Jang turned the bout around in the final, third round.
Applying pressure with aggressive attacks, Jang earned 10 points from four judges. He received higher scores from three of the five judges in the final tally, completing a thrilling comeback victory.
Because boxing does not hold a separate bronze-medal bout, Minseong Kim and Jang Dong Hwan both secured bronze medals by advancing to the semifinals.
Minseong Kim and Jang Dong Hwan will vie for spots in the final in the semifinals on the 30th.
