Return Traffic Congestion Eases on the Last Day of the Chuseok Holiday... Busan to Seoul Takes 4 Hours 30 Minutes

[Financial News] Traffic congestion on highways heading back to Seoul gradually eased on the afternoon of the 27th, the last day of the Chuseok holiday.
According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 7 p.m. on the 27th, estimated travel times from major cities to the Seoul Tollgate were 4 hours 30 minutes from Busan, 4 hours 10 minutes from Ulsan, 3 hours 40 minutes from Mokpo, 3 hours 30 minutes each from Gwangju and Daegu, 2 hours 40 minutes from Gangneung, and 2 hours from Daejeon.
On the Seoul-bound side of the Gyeongbu Expressway, congestion was reported along 8 kilometers from the area near Yeongdong to the area near Yeongdong 1 Tunnel, 10 kilometers from the area near Oksan Hi to the area near Cheongju Rest Area, 2 kilometers near Anseong Junction, and 3 kilometers from Yangjae to Banpo.
Congestion also continued on the Seoul-bound side of the Seohaean Expressway along 4 kilometers from Gunsan Rest Area to the area near Dongseocheon Junction and 2 kilometers from Songak to Haengdamdo Rest Area.
Traffic was moving slowly on the Gwangju–Wonju Expressway along the 10-kilometer Wonju-bound section from Dongyangpyeong to Seowonju, as well as on the 4-kilometer Gwangju-bound section from Gwangju Rest Area to Donggonjiam and the 2-kilometer section near Heungcheon-Ipo.
Congestion was also easing on major roads in Seoul. According to the Seoul City traffic information system, traffic was flowing smoothly in both directions on Olympic-daero. Traffic was moving slowly on some sections of Gangbyeonbuk-ro, while congestion was reported on sections including the road from north of Jamwon IC to the entrance of Banpo Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway.
The Korea Expressway Corporation said it expected most of the return-trip congestion to clear between 10 and 11 p.m.
