Kim Joong-nam, Gangneung Mayor, Inspects Sites Even During Holiday Break—from Okgye-myeon to Jumunjin

[Financial News Gangneung = Kim Ki-seop] From plans to transform the wildfire-damaged areas of Okgye-myeon into a forest tourism destination to the early construction of accommodation facilities in Jumunjin, inspections of key issues spanning southern and northern Gangneung continued even during the Chuseok holiday break.
According to Gangneung City on the 27th, Mayor Kim Joong-nam visited Gangneung Jungang Market, Seongnam Market, and various venues hosting experiential and performance events during the holiday break to meet residents. He also toured major project sites with the heads of relevant departments. On the 26th, he traveled from Okgye-myeon in the southern part of the city to Jumunjin in the north, inspecting wildfire recovery, tourism, and urban regeneration projects in succession. At the wildfire-damaged area in Okgye-myeon that morning, he checked the recovery efforts and reviewed plans for a forest-restoration-based forest tourism model. The plan aims to restore the damaged area in an environmentally friendly way while integrating forestry, tourism, education, healing, and local income generation.
In the afternoon, he reviewed plans for the early construction of accommodation facilities and the installation of tourism amenities in Buldanggol and Lighthouse Village in Jumunjin, as well as the progress of urban regeneration projects. He also examined plans to improve the environment around Jumunjin Port and expand waterfront spaces where residents and tourists can enjoy the water.
Mayor Kim said, "Projects closely connected to residents' lives, such as the forest tourism plan for the wildfire-damaged area in Okgye-myeon and the construction of accommodation facilities in Jumunjin, must be checked on site even during the holidays." He added, "We will make the most of the conditions in each area of the southern and northern parts of the city to create changes that residents can see for themselves."
