According to industry sources on the 27th, after supplying artworks to The Hyundai Seoul, which opened in 2021, Hyundai Livart has expanded its existing 'public-art business' into art consulting. Rather than merely installing works by famous artists requested by clients, it collaborates with artists to plan and produce artworks and sculptures that fit each space.
At the time, Hyundai Livart installed at The Hyundai Seoul's void space Seon Ghi Bahk's work 'An Aggregation 180609,' featuring gold and white beads intricately intersecting in midair, and Suh Hai-Young's work 'A Whole – Close Boundaries,' consisting of a brick-shaped masonry-pattern sculpture. Both works were installed in midair and required a high level of construction expertise.
After the importance of sculptures rose in high-end apartment complexes, the business expanded into residential spaces. In 2024, Hyundai Livart also installed a work in the drop-off zone in the underground parking lot of Raemian OnePentas.
Behind the expansion is Art Lab, a specialized organization made up of art planners, designers, architects and administrators. Hyundai Livart's Art Lab handles the entire process of space-specific art consulting, from planning works through permitting, production, installation and post-installation management.
THE H Gate 32-8, the entrance gate structure at THE H Banpo La Class, a metal installation at a high-end residential complex, was also an Art Lab project. Seon Ghi Bahk designed it, while Art Lab handled production and on-site construction.
Hyundai Livart also supplied works by internationally renowned artists including Marc Fornes and Alexandre Benjamin Navet to The H Bangbae.
Art consulting has become a driving force behind Hyundai Livart's total interior solutions business. That is because the company can handle not only furniture but also artworks and sculptures on a turnkey basis.
Business performance has trended upward from around 10 projects annually on average to more than 20 annually since 2021. Fueled by this expansion, Hyundai Livart's total interior solutions business grew to the point of generating more than 100 billion won in revenue last year.
