Woo Sang-ho Expands Communication in Gangwon State, Reaching Out to Employees, Residents and the Media

[Financial News, Chuncheon = Reporter Kim Gi-seop] Gangwon State Governor Woo Sang-ho is expanding communication channels within and beyond the provincial government office by introducing an anonymous direct channel for employees, a biweekly YouTube talk show and a series of meetings across all 18 cities and counties.
According to Gangwon State on the 27th, Governor Woo has operated a mutual communication channel on the provincial government's internal administrative system since the 7th, allowing employees to send their opinions directly to him. Anyone working at the provincial government office can freely post policy suggestions, grievances and recommendations, or reports of abuse of power and sexual misconduct. Employees' names are kept confidential as a rule so they can speak without worrying about their identities being exposed.
At 8:40 a.m. on the 22nd, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Governor Woo personally took the microphone for an in-house broadcast and delivered holiday greetings to employees. He expressed his gratitude, saying, "Watching the provincial government employees work diligently and passionately for two months and more than 20 days gave me faith that Gangwon State could change." He also thanked employees working during the holiday for serving as a pillar supporting residents' daily lives.
Woo is also launching a new form of online communication with Gangwon residents. He plans to appear personally on a biweekly YouTube talk show to discuss major provincial-government issues and policies closely connected to daily life. Rather than relying on formal policy explanations, he intends to use a conversational format to present issues residents are curious about in a more approachable way.
Woo holds a press briefing once a month and also shares provincial policies and direction whenever major issues arise. Starting next year, he plans to visit all 18 cities and counties in Gangwon State to discuss his administrative philosophy and policy direction with local media and city and county governments. The aim is to expand two-way communication by incorporating opinions from the field into provincial administration.
"True communication means listening carefully to everything—from the small suggestions employees post on the mutual communication channel, to criticism from the media at press briefings and voices from the field across all 18 cities and counties," Woo said. "I will expand the communication that began inside the provincial government office to YouTube and local communities and pursue an administration that stays closely connected with residents."
