Busan R&D Week to Open Oct. 1, Exploring Future Innovation Technologies Including Maritime AX

[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan City Government and the Busan Institute of Science and Technology for Higher Education Promotion (BISTEP) announced on the 27th that they will hold the 12th BUSAN R&D WEEK at Exhibition Hall 2 of the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) on October 1–2.
Marking its 12th year, BUSAN R&D WEEK is a forum for science and technology exchange established to share the city’s science and technology and research and development achievements and identify new scientific and technological agendas that will lead the region’s future.
This year’s theme is "Connected Busan, Expanding Future." In response to the rapidly changing science and technology landscape and policy changes, including the enactment of the Act on Promotion of Region-Led Science and Technology Innovation, the event will focus on major scientific and technological agendas directly tied to Busan’s future, including maritime artificial intelligence transformation (AX), AI and manufacturing innovation, quantum sensing, future aviation, advanced regenerative medicine, and science and technology talent development.
The first day will feature an opening ceremony, along with the "Maritime AX Symposium," which will discuss ways to merge and transform Busan’s maritime industry through AI, and the "Busan Science and Technology Professionals Policy Colloquium," which will connect quantum sensing technology with Busan’s future potential.
The "Regional-Led R&D Innovation Symposium" will also bring together the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP), the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET), the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pusan National University (PNU), and Chungbuk National University (CBNU) to discuss changes in regional R&D policy and ways to respond.
On the second day, programs such as the "Manufacturing AI Innovation Forum" and the "Future Aviation Industry Symposium" will be held to advance Busan’s manufacturing industry and future mobility through science and technology.
Other programs, including the Advanced Regenerative Medicine Industry Forum, Future Technology Strategy Forum, Southeast Region Mega-Belt Talent Development Forum, R&D Capacity-Building Seminar, and Science and Technology Talk Concert, will also address a wide range of scientific and technological issues closely related to citizens’ lives and the region’s future, including advanced biotechnology, carbon neutrality, talent development, and climate and environmental concerns.
